🚨 MixAuctions – my experience 🚨

Alright folks, I pulled the trigger on a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia from MixAuctions.com exactly one year ago today. The listing said “excellent condition, low miles, fleet maintained”. I figured I’d give it a shot since the price was right.

Fast forward 1 year: the truck is still running strong, but I wanted to do a review – meaning I went through every receipt, every maintenance log, and every little quirk. I wanted to see if the auction description held up.

“ream” = real + dream? or just a typo? anyway, here’s my breakdown.

What was accurate: mileage was verified, no major rust, engine pulled like a champ.
What was off: the AC needed a recharge, and the radio was aftermarket (not mentioned).
💰 total cost after one year: $4,200 in maintenance (tires, brakes, oil changes).

Overall I’d say MixAuctions is legit, but you have to do your own inspection. I’ll post pics later.

Nice write-up, Jake! I almost bid on that same Cascadia but went with a Kenworth from MixAuctions instead. My experience was similar – they are honest about the big stuff but miss small details.

Also did you get the warranty? I passed on it and kinda regret now because my alternator died at month 8.

I bought a 2016 Peterbilt from MixAuctions in 2024 and I did a similar “ream” – kept a log of every single expense. After 1 year I was about $5k in repairs, but the truck itself was solid. The auction photos were accurate, but the undercarriage had more surface rust than shown.

Pro tip: always ask for a third-party inspection. MixAuctions allows it but they don’t advertise it.

“ream” is now my new favorite word for auction post-mortem.

I run a small fleet and we’ve bought 3 trucks from MixAuctions over the last 2 years.

In my experience, MixAuctions is better than most. Their reconditioning team is hit or miss, but their customer service is responsive.
One tip: if you see “fleet maintained” – ask for the maintenance records. They usually have them but don’t post them.

Glad your Cascadia worked out, Jake. Keep us posted on the 1-year ream report!

Thanks for the replies, y’all. To clarify: “ream” for me is a mix of “real” and “dream” – I wanted to see if the auction dream matched reality. And it did, for the most part.

I’ll attach a PDF with my full 1-year expense log (fuel, tires, repairs, etc.) later. But overall, MixAuctions gets a solid B+ from me. Would buy again.

If anyone else has MixAuctions stories, drop them here. This thread will be a good reference for future buyers.
